It’s not home without Butters.
Wanna make sure you know that I am not leaving it like this. We are having it painted soon. The person who is painting it for us is a friend from CeDAR. Before I searched for someone, I decided I wanted to hire someone in recovery. I will approach the community first for most things because I know we have talented people who need work right here in my own circle of recovery pals. I reached out to Jason and he accepted but told me he wouldn’t charge me because it was part of his recovery! HOGWASH, I said. I told him I felt strongly about paying him and I might not hire him if he wasn’t going to charge.
I have very talented friends who provide very useful services for a living. I don’t accept favors. The biggest favor I can do for you is pay you for your work. You deserve it. So no Jason. Recovery means working for your income so that you can get on your feet and support yourself! Nix the “free” work.
Butters slid on the little step up to the shed the first day I was in here and she won’t come in on her own volition anymore. I have set up a bed for her outside complete with treats scattered all over it with the hope that she will return in a search for more. Forget Henry. Getting him out here to hang out is a lost cause.
Happy to see that the ‘she shed’ is up and coming!
Yes! People need to get paid for their work. This made me laugh: “I might not hire him if he wasn’t going to charge.”
Those are sensitive dogs you have. : )
