Serendipity, OH

This is the one. I found a NY style Jewish deli here in Beachwood, OH, and my, my, my. If the coleslaw – which, by the way – was NOT drowning in mayo – is not the best one so far! Guilt-free and yummy. It’s a good day.

It IS a good day. I arrived here last night in Beachwood at LifeTime Fitness and discovered something interesting. It’s a heavily ethnic city. I noticed a Jewish cemetery on the drive in, so that clued me in to the Jewishness, and at LT, I noticed a huge African American presence. It was lovely and refreshing. So I started researching and it turns out it is very much a Jewish enclave in the midwest with a really rich history, and it is very ethnically diverse.

Other things were serendipitous about being here – I have 6 degrees of connection to this town in a few ways that are not related to my being Jewish. I stayed here today to explore. Went to a fascinating museum called the Maltz Museum and learned how and why there are so many Jews here. I usually can’t do a museum for more than like 20 minutes, but I stayed for 3 hours, BECAUSE I met a couple from Florida and we talked and talked and wouldn’t you know it? They are in Beachwood because of a fitness guru who I know because I used to do PR for Nautilus AND he is connected to my first boyfriend in 6th grade. Long story. So I’m calling this “Serendipity, OH” and may end up living here.
The winner of #coleslawacrossamerica is…..Serendipity, OH! (aka Beachwood).

Still gobsmacked by the coincidence/serendipity of you ending up in the city of my work in Ohio on your way to my home in Massachusetts. What are the odds!

I am thankful that our needs (yours and mine) have sync’d up in a way that continues to benefit everyone!
