It’s review time. I just finished bingeing on this Netflix show. I really liked Squid Games but the similarities ended with the games. This was a sort of dystopian, high-tech Black Mirror-esque sci fi. It was horrific and gory, but not without a point. The scenery and the filming were spectacular, the acting was excellent, the characters were real and relatable – I was rooting for them the whole time. It explored both the emotional and intellectual life of the characters and human beings in general.
I was so pleasantly surprised after expecting a vapid, but engaging show. The premise deals with the exploration of why we are here and what brings meaning to our lives. Something we all ponder. But it was done in such an outstanding way that I didn’t even know how hard my brain was working until it ended and I cried. Both because of the dramatic ending and because I don’t know what I’m going to do with my life now. I can’t start another show, this one will stick with me for awhile. And I’m paralyzed with emotion so I can’t leave the couch, but I have lots of things to do. I’m spent.
